Elaine Xydis Lipka

Elaine Xydis Lipka has worked with the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigations since 1991, just after she completed studies at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. She has been with the Bureau ever since working from both the Denver Field Office and the headquarters in Washington, D.C. In her 30-plus years as an FBI agent, Lipka has been a critical part of large-profile cases. Few may know who Lipka is, but many will know of the cases she served, particularly ones in the 1990s.

At that time, Lipka served as lead FBI agent for an investigation requested by then-United States Attorney Janet Reno. The case was domestic terrorism and Reno sought the assistance of the FBI, including Lipka's team, to look into violent crimes committed against abortion providers. Lipka and other agents worked to discover whether or not this was a concerted, conspiracy effort against those doctors and clinics offering abortions.

Elaine Lipka also played a prominent role in the investigation against then-President Bill Clinton in 1997. This case examined his affair with Monica Lewinsky. Lipka poured over 22 tapes of conversations between Lewinksy and Linda Tripp to discover the nature of the relationship, providing information to Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr that would help guide his perjury investigation.
